Debra Searle is a professional adventurer and a prolific British keynote speaker on themes like staying motivated, being flexible to change and overcoming challenges. Using her own experiences, she illustrates what we’re all capable of.

Debra Searle MVO, MBE is a professional adventurer, author and TV presenter as well as an experienced keynote speaker. She is not just a woman with a fascinating story to tell, but also a breath of fresh air: she is young, articulate and funny. She shares the stories of her personal battles and victories to illustrate what we are all capable of if we stay motivated, remain flexible to change, and willing to fight to overcome challenges and step outside our comfort zone. She is a truly engaging and inspiring speaker, and audiences are left in no doubt of their ability to achieve the extraordinary both individually and collectively.

She is a prolific public speaker whose previous speaking events include  the main Microsoft Conference held in Mauritius, the Nokia Global Conference in Sun City, and the eBay conference in Paris. She delivers tailored motivational keynote speeches but also has a wealth of experience within sales, change management, and leadership. One of her most popular keynotes is based on her experience of rowing solo across the Atlantic; after her oarsman husband developed an uncontrollable fear of the ocean, Debra, a novice rower, had to face the 3000 miles across the Atlantic alone. What could have been done in six weeks took her 3½ months, battling against 30’ waves in nothing more than a 23’ plywood boat. Her other feats include finishing the longest canoe race in the world, sailing around the Antarctica, and setting a new world record in a dragon boat across the English Channel.

With attitude ammunition, Debra is able to overcome stressful situations and motivate herself to keep going and overcome massive obstacles. She regularly uses these tools and techniques to grow her own business, and they have also helped her write two books, become the youngest trustee ever of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and present over forty programmes for the BBC. It’s this can-do attitude that has allowed her to start her two companies, one at the age of 24, the second at the age of 27.

Her recent book, ‘The Journey: How to Achieve against All the Odds,’ provides a detailed and graphic account of her experiences in the Atlantic and covers the many key messages that will make a difference to and guide the reader through topics like staying motivated, improving teamwork, and choosing the right attitude despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
